Alexis Marie Petersen

Baby Lexi arrived on Thursday May 23, 2013. At 39 weeks and 1 day she was a healthy 9 lbs 3 oz and 21". We decided to have an Elective Induction with her. It was just easier with Brock's and Kris's schedule for work. We got to McKay Dee about 8 am and the Dr. broke my water at about 9:45 and started the Pitocin about 10:00. Brock and I were very nervous because when they broke my water they saw some amniotic fluid staining which meant that she had pooped in the fluid. That was how all of Emma's complictionst started. What made us feel a bit better was the Dr was not concerned about the little bit of staining. The contractions started pretty quickly after Dr Davis broke my water. The nurse who did my IV "bless her heart" was struggling with getting it in. She said I had great veins and it should be easy, well 3 different tries later, she finally got it. That was honestly the WORST part of the whole labor and delivery process. It hurt so bad and 11 days after I still have a bruise :(

At about 1:30 I was at a 5+ dialated and the contractions were starting to get pretty intense and the Anesthesiologist was going to be in a C-Section shortly before that so I got my Epidural, which by the way didn't hurt one bit. :) After that this Momma was Happy Happy Happy! While I was laboring another nurse came in and asked if we wanted to participate in a trial study where they put a heart monitor on the baby's head. Since we had to have this with Emma because of her distress, we were happy to volunteer. We got a free BOX of diapers with it so that was a Bonus! This same nurse had me try a position that she swears helps labor along faster. She had me lay on my left side and put my right leg on the leg rest you use when pushing. Then she had me switch sides every half hour to an hour. Well she was right, at about 4:30ish I was already at a 9+!! Wahoo!! So the nurse got everything prepped and ready for when the Dr showed up from his clinic. Once he got there we were good to do, and after about 5 minutes and 2 contractions later. Lexi was here at 5:37pm.

I LOVED this labor and delivery! We had such a fun atmosphere. There was such a light mood. It was completely different from when Emma was born. I didn't know the Dr because she came on a weekend, and the whole feeling was very clinical. Lexi's delivery was so AMAZING!! I wish everyone had a labor/delivery experience like I did.

Dr Davis joked that if I have another baby I am not allowed to go past 39 weeks if all of my babies are going to be this big :) Because she was so big for being 39 weeks she had to have her blood sugars monitored for the duration of our stay. They said because bigger babies have a higher metabolism they have to have her blood sugars watched closer.

By the way the food at McKay Dee was AWESOME!! Absolutely delicious!!

38 Weeks

I had my last check up today for Baby comes. No change this week. Dr said he would be surprised if I changed much more before I actually have her. His weight estimation for her this week on the ultrasound was 8lbs 11oz. He says he thinks thats a little high, but he did estimate just by feeling that she is somewhere between 8 and 8.5 lbs. She may be a Chunky Monkey when she comes out. She has definately not slowed down in movement, she's just gotten stronger. 8 days left!!
Since I haven't been able to send any ultrasound pictures lately I thought I would include this picture of Emma helping Daddy mow the lawn :)

37 Weeks

So I've made it to 37 weeks now. I didn't post last week because there was really nothing to update. Today I am dialated to about 3cm and about 60% effaced. Dr says the baby is measuring about 7.5lbs. We have our induction date scheduled for the morning of May 23rd.  In other news We celebrated our 9th Anniversary last week. Brock took his 2.5 favorite girls to Timbermine for dinner Yum Yum! Also Brock got a new DSLR camera so he has been playing around with that and learning about how to work it.

THE ZOO!!

Friday we went to the Hogle Zoo and Kris got to come with us. She said she hadn't been to the Zoo since her boys were little and still in strollers. We love the zoo. Emma has been asking to go since the middle of January. She loves seeing the animals. Sorry these pictures are a little out of order because some came from our camera and some came from Kris's camera, but its a major pain in the butt to try to move them around on here.  Friday was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day. The weather was totally sunny and about 70 degrees. The Zoo wasn't too busy thankfully.  

Emma didn't like the statues of the animals too much. She preferred to see the real ones :)



We hadn't been to the Rocky Shores Exhibit until this year and I think it is my favorite part of the zoo now. I loved seeing the seals and sea lion and the polar bear. Its been some years since we had seen any bears at the zoo. 



 

 

This Polar Bear was make entirely out of Legos. Brock was thoroughly impressed. He loves legos.

Every time a seal swam right by the glass when Emma had her hand up, she thought she actually touched the seal. She had so much fun watching them. They were very playful and active.

This girl spent half of the time walking through the Zoo asking to ride the Merry-Go-Round, which she eventually got to do twice. Once with Mugga and once with Daddy.

Can't wait to go back next year. We will have an 11 month old in tow as well :)

Just another preggo check up...

Today I had another check up. Baby is still head down and she is faced backwards so we couldn't seen her face on the ultrasound. Measuring almost 6 lbs. Did a cervical check today, dialated to a 1 and 50% effaced. Hopefully next week we will be able to schedule our induction date. Dr says she seems to have quite a bit of hair. So excited to get this little girl here. Friday we get to take Emma to the zoo. She is so excited to go, she asks every morning if its zoo day. I'm pretty excited too, hopefully I'll be able to make it walking around there for a while. This will be the last activity we will be able to do as just a family of 3. Its kind of bittersweet to me. I've spent the last 3 and a half years devoting my time to my sweet Emma. I worry if I'll be able to give both girls the same amount of love and attention. Well next check up post will come next week. Hopefully I'll be able to have a zoo post before that.

34 week check up

I had my 34 week check up yesterday. The dr was way behind from having two deliveries that morning so unfortunately I had to keep a 3 year old occupied for over an hour. We didn't get any good pictures this time, but the dr did say it looks like she has some hair. He said she's measuring around the 5 pound mark. We're down to weekly appointments now. 5 more weeks to go before we decide to evict this little girl :)

32 Weeks

Ok one more post for today. These are from my appointment this morning. Dr said everything looks great. She had both of her hands in front of her face. She was measuring about 4lbs 7oz today. Next appointment is in 2 weeks, then it will be down to weekly appointments after that. Oh Boy! We are getting down to the wire here. Now that we have Emma's room done we can hopefully start getting the Nursery set up and put together.

Easter 2013

Happy Easter Everyone!

Saturday we went up to Brigham so Emma could do an Easter Egg hunt there with Mugga and Pappa.

We pulled into the driveway, she didn't know that she would be doing an egg hunt, and immediately she started spying eggs all over the place. She was so excited to get started.

Her bucket was FULL of eggs and in the eggs were candy and coin money. She was so excited!

 

The night before Easter we had some visitors stay the night with us. 5 of my cousins from Boise needed a place to crash for the night. They came down for the Festival of Color in Spanish Fork.

Easter Morning they got to watch Emma do her Easter Egg hunt that the Bunny left her. This year the Easter Bunny sent her on a scavenger hunt to find her basket and candy. He gave her clues to follow. Once her basket was found, she was kind of sad. She really enjoyed finding the eggs and hearing the clues. She wanted more. So unfortunately the contents of her basket weren't nearly as fun and searching for the eggs.

 

 

 

 She thought it was so funny that the Easter Bunny hid one of the clues in her dresser drawer :)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 EB brought her the movie Wreck-It-Ralph and some notebooks and some pencils and stickers. Things to help keep her busy while at church ;)

 Emma was so in LOVE with the girls that were staying with us. She LOVES girls and the fact thaty they were so ready and willing to play with her and give her all their attention, she was on cloud nine. Their ages range from 22-11. Kenna the 11-year old was her new buddy she wanted to go everywhere Kenna went. She was honestly sad when they had to leave. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and now today she has told me how much she misses the girls and that she wants them to come back to our house or she wants to go to their house.
